The Board of Directors of Arts Are Elementary's next call for proposals for Brunswick's 2012/2013 school year will be early spring 2012. We will be meeting the following week to review applications. Our considerations include, but are not limited to these questions: What residencies have the students experienced in past years (see years past)? How relevant is the proposal to the curriculum? Is there an opportunity for collaboration with other organizations or artists?
We plan one residency for each grade K-5. Each resident artist will visit every classroom (11-12 total classrooms per grade) in 3 different schools, Longfellow, Coffin and Jordan Acres. Beginning in 2011/2012 Brunswick will have 2 public elementary schools when Harriet Beecher Stowe school opens, as well as St John's Catholic School. Please see our links 2008/2009 and 2009/2010 for examples of residencies that have been presented in the past couple of years. For an idea of numbers of classrooms and class sizes for each grade, please click here. St John's Catholic school has one classroom for each grade except kindergarten which has two classrooms. Class size varies from 15-21 students.
Send a resume and full description of your proposed workshop: including which grade(s) you prefer to work with, dates you are available, how many visits you'd like to make to each classroom and the duration of each visit, fee requirements, any opportunities for professional development training for teachers, materials budget, references if available, and any other information you'd like us to have.
Please submit toaaedirector@gmail.com or send to PO Box 882, Brunswick, ME 04011. If you have any questions, please email aaedirector@gmail.com or call Patty Olds (Director) at 207-725-1313.
