Artist Information: In my work I seek out the details — those organic patterns and forms that are inherent in a place, that when strung together give form to the larger landscape and inform our experience of that place. Living in Maine has inspired a deepening of my connection to place, and working with stones allows me to share this with others. I want my jewelry to inspire people to recognize the beauty that can be found in the nooks and crannies of the natural world; and to help them feel closer to the grace and presence that resides there.

Art Creation: Each piece I create is crafted from Maine beach stones, selected for their size, shape and smoothness. The process from start to finish involves cleaning the stones, then drilling, hand-painting and varnishing them for protection, and finally doing the finishing touches to turn them into earrings or a necklace. The stones themselves inspire the painted designs, and an intuitive process guides the actual painting process. I often don’t know what the finished piece will look like, resulting in every piece being one-of-a-kind.
